Late afternoon illuminated the cliffs opposite my position in the Island in the Sky district of Canyonlands National Park. The clouds above reflected just enough warm light to fill in the foreground details, thankfully, as I wanted to create some feeling of depth in this landscape. It needed to all be sharp, however, or the rocks I was standing on would be distracting and hard to get past visually. To get it all in focus, I chose a small aperture and set my focus point according to the depth-of-field app on my phone.
